"The Boasting"

Hold me nowIn the hands that created the heavensFind me nowWhere the grace runs deep as your scars
You pulled me from the clayYou set me on the rockCalled me by your nameAnd made my heart whole again
~
So here I stand, high in surrenderI need you nowHold my heart, now and foreverMy soul cries out
Once I was brokenBut you loved my whole heart throughSin has no hold on me'Cause your grace holds me now
And that graceOwns the ground where the grave didWhere all my shame remainsLeft for dead in your wake
You crashed those age-old gatesYou left no stone unturnedYou stepped out of that graveAnd shouldered me all the way (come on)
So here I stand, high in surrenderI need you nowHold my heart, now and foreverMy soul cries out....

I found myself intrigued, whilst listening to the lyrics of this song for about the hundredth time. As I pondered over the lyrics word for word, it was evident that these writers knew a truth.  This could only be told by lived experiences of their own shame and scars, and their only way of escaping was through the unconditional love of Jesus. I am pierced by the deepness of these words every time I listen. - because for most of us who had to endure scars of our own, here is an anthem of praise for us to declare we're no longer broken! Instead, He grants us freedom to boast in Him, with all confidence that by God's power, we're made whole.

1 Corinthians 1:31 says, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." In this powerful verse, Paul echoes the profound wisdom of Jeremiah 9:24. When we speak of "boasting in the Lord," we are called to celebrate His incredible attributes and goodness. It's about recognizing and sharing what He has accomplished, what He is actively doing, and the glorious promises He holds for our future. This is not mere pride in ourselves; instead, it is a joyful acknowledgment of God's unmatched ability to shine through our weaknesses, reminding us that His strength is made perfect in our flaws. SO LET US PROUDLY BOAST IN HIM WITH OUR WHOLE HEARTS!!
